This week, it’s all Netflix, all the time.  

1. “Colonia,” Drama, Rated R

Starring Global Citizen superstar Emma Watson, this haunting film tells the story of Chile during the 1970s as its people struggled against US-backed dictator Augusto Pinochet. Watson goes into hiding in order to extricate her boyfriend from a religious colony used to imprison and torture dissidents.

2. “The Big Picture With Kal Penn,” Series, PG

Witty actor and political guru Kal Penn picks apart everything from what happens to our trash when we’re done with it to how space travel has changed with new technology. 

3. “Beasts of No Nation,” Drama, NR

This Netflix-original starring “The Wire’s” Idris Elba is the first-person narrative of a West African child soldier, who sees more violence and suffering at a young age than most do in a lifetime.

4.  “Babel,” Drama, R 

Four stories from four different parts of the world show us how what separates us can also bring us together. Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and Gael Garcia Bernal star.

5. “Oliver Stone’s Untold History of the United States,” Documentary Series, PG

Oliver Stone eviscerates US politics in the years since World War I, re-examining major historical events with a critical lens.
