Editor's note: This reward has now closed, but you can tune in to Global Citizen Prize from Dec. 19 to find out which of the remarkable Cisco Youth Leadership Award finalists has won. You can find global listings for Global Citizen Prize here.
This December, Global Citizen Prize will celebrate remarkable individuals who have led this year with compassion, care, innovation, and dedication to uplift the world’s most vulnerable people, against a backdrop of significant global challenges.
One of the prize categories is the Global Citizen Prize: Cisco Youth Leadership Award, which honors remarkable young activists who have taken action to make the world a better place, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that the 2020 Cisco Youth Leadership Award finalists have been announced, we're asking Global Citizens everywhere to help decide who will win the prestigious award — and $250,000 in funding to support their organization — through a public vote.
By choosing which finalist you think should win, you can also enter in the chance to win a very special reward — access to the official Global Citizen Prize virtual watch party, which will feature a special appearance by John Legend.
The star, who is hosting Global Citizen Prize, will drop in during the watch party to meet and chat with a few lucky winners who will be chosen from anywhere in the world. Click here to help choose the Cisco Youth Leadership Award winner, and to be in with a chance of meeting John Legend.
This will be Legend’s second year in a row hosting the award show, which will be broadcast on Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC in the United States and CTV in Canada. We'll be announcing additional global tune in information — as well as performers, presenters, and awardees — in the coming weeks so, wherever you are, make sure to follow @GlblCtzn on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for the latest updates.
“I’m so excited to be returning as host for the Global Citizen Prize for the second year,” Legend said. “2020 has challenged all of us in many ways, and I’m proud to be celebrating leaders who are supporting vulnerable communities, working to end extreme poverty, and inspiring others to take action for change.”
To earn a chance of winning Legend’s reward, voters can learn about the three extraordinary Cisco Youth Leadership Award finalists for 2020, each of whom has already made significant contributions to the fight to end extreme poverty and its root causes by 2030.
One finalist Ryan Gersava is the founder and president of Virtualahan, a social enterprise in the Philippines that provides digital skills training for people who are typically excluded from the job market because of their health or life circumstances.
Meanwhile Suhani Jalota is the founder and CEO of Myna Mahila Foundation. Her foundation has produced more than 10 million eco-friendly sanitary pads for women since 2015, and delivered them to 550,000 women in 15 slum communities in Mumbai.
And last but not least, Christelle Kwizera is the founder and managing director of Water Access Rwanda, a social enterprise that provides communities with safe and affordable water that is easy to access.
