What is Global Goal: Unite For Our Future?
Around the world, countries and regions are eager to “open back up” so that people everywhere can resume their normal lives — spend time with friends and loved ones, visit their favorite places, earn a decent wage.
To make this a reality, we need solutions — including tests, treatments and a vaccine — to fight COVID-19, available to everyone, everywhere. The critical work being done by scientists in labs around the world, distributing these tools regardless of cost or geography, and rebuilding economies in the poorest countries, require a massive increase in funding. And whilst the world works together to fight this virus, we must also mitigate its effects — on hunger, education, gender inequality and more. This campaign aims to mitigate the pandemic’s impact on those living in extreme poverty, and support long-term strengthening of fragile health systems.
At its core, this campaign aims to achieve:
- Investments in development of COVID-19 solutions, including testing, treatments, and vaccines.
- Equitable delivery and access to care
- Rebuilding fragile economies better so that no one’s left behind.
Where will the funds come from?
Global Citizen will activate our audience all over the world to take action, calling on world leaders, corporations, and philanthropists to step up their funding efforts.

Over the next 8 weeks, Global Citizen will be rallying leaders to make commitments to the groups which are at the forefront of developing treatments, vaccines, diagnostics + testing, and strengthening our global health systems so testing, treatments, and vaccines are delivered to anyone that needs them, so that no one is left behind. These include: Therapeutics Accelerator, CEPI, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance,FIND, The Global Fund, WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, UNITAID, and Global Citizen’s International and Regional Response, Relief and Resilience Network.
How will vaccines be distributed to low- and middle-income countries?
There are several organizations with deep expertise in financing and delivering vaccines to LMICs, including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Global Fund, and UNICEF. These organizations have strong funding support from countries around the world and are participating in the ACT Accelerator to address these important questions in the months ahead.
