Terms and Conditions 

Terms and Conditions

  1. The Promoter is Global Poverty Project, Inc d/b/a Global Citizen of 740 Broadway, Suite 400, NY NY 10003, United States of America (“Promoter”). 

  2.  By entering the 2023 Waislitz Global Citizen Awards (the “Competition”), entrants accept these Terms & Conditions of entry.

  3. Entry to this Competition is open to entrants aged eighteen (18) years of age or older from anywhere in the world (“Entrant(s)”), excluding employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its related companies, and excluding individuals or organizations from any country or entity subject to financial or other sanctions by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) or other government entity of the United States of America that may restrict the transfer of the Prize (defined below). All federal, state, municipal, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law. 

  4.  To enter the Competition, Entrants must follow the instructions at  https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/programs/waislitz-award/. Entries must be submitted between 9:00AM PST on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 and 5:00PM PST on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Entrants will be evaluated based on individual merit, including the following five (5) key areas:

    1. GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP: How does the Entrant embody and exemplify the values and practices of a Global Citizen?

    2. PROOF OF CONCEPT: Does the Entrant have a strong proof of concept with at least one (1) to two (2) years of impact towards ending extreme poverty?

    3. DISRUPTION: Has the Entrant created measurable impact in an innovative manner that disrupts the systems that allow for extreme poverty to exist?

    4. SCALABILITY: How would this award enable/support the Entrant to scale or improve their work?

    5. ADAPTABILITY: Can the Entrant demonstrate examples of their ability to adapt and evolve to changing conditions?

  5.  Three (3) prizes will be awarded for the Competition, consisting of a first prize of USD$100,000 paid to Prize Winner’s designated organization (the “First Prize”) and two (2) runner-up prizes each winning awards of USD$50,000 paid to Prize Winners’ designated organizations (the “Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award” and the “Waislitz Global Citizen Disruptor Award” (each a “Prize”, awarded to a “Prize Winner” and collectively, the “Prize Winners”).

    1. One (1) First Prize winner will be selected by the Waislitz Foundation based on the five (5) criteria listed above.

    2. One (1) “Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award” winner will be selected following a public online voting process on the www.globalcitizen.org platform by the Global Citizen community - individuals registered on the Global Citizen platform - during a five (5) day period. The final evaluation of the “Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award” will be done by the Waislitz Foundation taking into account the results of the public online voting process and the five (5) criteria listed previously. For the avoidance of doubt, please note that the results of the public online voting process is only a contributing factor and Entrants will be evaluated solely on the five (5) key areas listed above. 

    3. One (1) “Waislitz Global Citizen Disruptor Award” winner will be selected by the Waislitz Foundation based on the five (5) criteria listed above for an Entrant who excels in disruption and innovation (criterion 4(c) listed above).

  6.  To be eligible to win a Prize, the Prize Winners must:

    1. Participate in the public vote accessible at www.globalcitizen.org; and 

    2. Agree to provide written updates to Promotor and the Waislitz Foundation on their use of the Prize, upon Promotor’s request. 

  7. Prize Winners will be selected on or around Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Global Citizen will make commercially reasonable efforts to contact each Prize Winner  by email or phone within five (5) business days of selection and will be announced on the Promoter website on or around August 4, 2023.

  8. This Competition is a game of skill and as such, the Prize Winners are selected based on the criteria outlined by Promoter herein.

  9.  Prize Winners are advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winning and should seek independent financial advice prior to the acceptance of the Prize. Prizes will be paid solely to Prize Winners’ designated organizations through wire transfer.  

  10. All Entrants grant Promoter the right to use said Entrant’s name, city, and other information as contained in the entry application for publicity and Competition purposes and to generally promote the charitable endeavors and mission of Promotor, without compensation to Entrant.

  11. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect, incidental, special consequential, exemplary or punitive damage or loss), regardless of the theory of liability (tort including negligence, contract, or otherwise), even if such damage or loss is foreseeable or Entrant has been advised of the possibility of such damages, including for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Competition or the Prize except for damages caused by Promoter’s sole willful misconduct or gross negligence.

  12. As a condition of accepting the Prize, each Prize Winner and their designated organization must sign any and all legal documentation as and in the form required by the Promoter, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity form.

  13. Each Entrant's personal information ("PI") is collected to enable the Promoter to administer and promote this Competition and the Prize Winner. The PI of each Prize Winner may be provided to third parties who are assisting the Promoter, including prize suppliers, deliverers and authorities that regulate competitions. Entrants who fail to provide all requested PI, may be determined by the Promoter, at its sole discretion, to be ineligible to win a Prize. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this Competition is further governed by the Promoter Privacy Policy

  14. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, corruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer networks and systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by the Promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination of them, including any injury or damage to any entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Competition. 

  15. Except where prohibited by law, this Competition is governed by US law and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law.  All issues and questions concerning the validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Terms and Conditions, or the rights and obligations of the Entrant and Promoter in connection with a prize, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, U.S.A., without given effect to the conflict of law rules thereof, and any matters or proceedings which are not subject to arbitration, shall take place in the State of New York, in the city of New York, country of New York.  

  16. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardize the fair and proper conduct of the Competition. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.

  17. If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.

  18. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result of the Competition or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the Competition and recommence it from the start on the same or materially similar conditions at a later date.
