On July 19, Madonna, Shakira + Burna Boy, BTS, Justin Bieber, Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS 22 Chorus featuring Coldplay performed at the first-ever FIFA World Cup™ Halftime Show! This all-star lineup lit up New York / New Jersey Stadium, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

The Halftime Show also featured the Muppets from Sesame Street, who for generations have brought joyful learning to children around the world. Their inclusion reinforced the purpose of the Halftime Show to ensure children everywhere have access to quality education. In addition, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and some of the gang from The Muppets, part of The Walt Disney Company, joined in the celebration.

The FIFA World Cup Halftime Show took place on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at New York / New Jersey Stadium in New Jersey during the Final. 

The FIFA World Cup™ Final 2026 was set to be the most-watched sporting event in history. But the World Cup is about more than just football, it’s a moment to unite the world. Global Citizen brought impact to the global stage, using music and entertainment to drive real change, focusing on improving access to sport and quality education for children worldwide through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

Announced at the Global Citizen Festival 2024, FIFA and Global Citizen are working together as part of a four-year partnership to improve access to sport and quality education for children worldwide through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. Under the partnership, Global Citizen produced a first-of-its-kind Halftime Show at the World Cup Final — one that blends music and purpose to inspire millions to take action.

Through the power of sport and entertainment, we made the World Cup Final a platform for global change.

Global Citizen drove action to provide access to sport and quality education with the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is an initiative that aims to raise USD $100 million to provide access to quality education and football for children around the world. The new fund will provide targeted support to organisations across the globe dedicated to improving education for children.

The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is an initiative that aims to raise USD $100 million to provide access to quality education and football for children around the world. The new fund will provide targeted support to organisations across the globe dedicated to improving education for children.

The landmark initiative will inspire new commitments from philanthropies, businesses, and individuals, and comes following the announcement of the impactful and engaging four-year partnership between FIFA and Global Citizen made at the Global Citizen Festival in New York in 2025.

Finances from the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund will be granted into grassroots programmes in over 200 countries. Some of the funds will also be allocated to the FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) programme, a FIFA and UNESCO led initiative that advances life skills, learning, and community development through football around the world.
