The Amazon rainforest helps keep the planet healthy. It stores a huge amount of carbon underground, which helps slow down climate change. It also brings rain to farms and forests across South America and beyond. But right now, it’s losing trees and land at a dangerous rate.
Indigenous communities care for almost one-third of the Amazon. Even though they make up only 4% of the people who live there, they protect the parts of the forest with the most animals and plants. Their way of life helps stop fires, protect wildlife, and pass down knowledge that’s been shared for generations.
Our campaign is working to raise $200 million to support Indigenous-led solutions that can help protect 30 million hectares of rainforest — an area about the size of Italy.
We’re asking leaders in Germany, France, and Norway to help. These countries have supported the Amazon before — and now we need them to do even more.
We’ll deliver this petition on August 9 — the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples — to honor the people who care for the forest every day. Add your name to help protect the Amazon and stand with Indigenous leaders who are fighting for our planet’s future.
