Why Global Citizens Should Care
One World: Together At Home is a global event that aims to celebrate and support health workers and other essential workers around the world, as well as the World Health Organization and its COVID-19 response efforts. Join the movement by taking action here to support the fight against COVID-19.

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has launched a historic event, raised millions of dollars for the World Health Organization (WHO), and turned 34 years old in the last three weeks, and on Saturday night she added to that list of milstones when she appeared on One World: Together At Home and wowed us all with a beautiful rendition of "Smile."

"Today I’m so happy that we are one world, together at home. I feel very honored to be a part of the World Health Organization and Global Citizen in the fight against COVID-19 and raising money for the Solidarity Response Fund," she said.

"I care so much about all of the medical workers that are putting their lives at risk for us right now," she continued. "I think of them every day, I pray for them every day, and I’m also thinking of all of you that are at home, who are wondering when this is all going to be different."

She added: "What I’d like to do for you tonight, if I can, is just give you the permission to, for a moment… Smile."

Her performance was the perfect kickoff to the One World: Together At Home television broadcast special, which followed the globally curated digital livestream. The livestream began at 2 p.m. ET on numerous streaming platforms, and included appearances by Adam Lambert, Andra Day, Jason Segel, Jessie Reyez, Rita Ora, Samuel L Jackson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sebastián Yatra, Sho Madjozi, and many more.

Lady Gaga has been leading the charge in uniting the world in the fight against COVID-19 for One World: Together At Home.

On April 6, the Oscar- and Grammy- winning artist announced the One World: Together At Home event and revealed that she had already helped to fundraise $35 million to support the WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Respond Fund.

She then appeared on all three of the major late-night shows in the US to talk about the event with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert.

She also called on world leaders on Monday to support the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI); Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; and the United Nations in their efforts to stop the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and develop a vaccine.

One World: Together At Home, curated in collaboration with Lady Gaga, featured appearances by Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Elton John, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Lizzo, and many, many more.
