Sweepstakes Terms and Conditions of Participation & General Instructions and Information

This Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes offers participants the opportunity to participate in four (4) sweepstakes to win tickets to Global Citizen Festival Hamburg. In order to participate in a sweepstake for Global Citizen Festival Hamburg, a participant must complete all of the actions (Kampagnen-Aktionen), as listed on the sweepstake website under the "Take Action" section within the respective Action Period as determined below ("Phases 1 to 4").
- Participation in Phase 1 will only be possible between 12:00 AM CET March 14, 2017, and 11:59 PM CET April 17, 2017. The drawing for Phase 1 will take place on April 18, 2017. 1,750 pairs of tickets will be drawn in Phase 1.
- Participation in Phase 2 will only be possible between 12:00 AM CET April 18, 2017, and 11:59 PM CET May 22, 2017. The drawing for Phase 2 will take place on May 23, 2017. At least 500 pairs of tickets will be drawn in Phase 2.
- Participation in Phase 3 will only be possible between 12:00 AM CET May 23, 2017, and 11:59 PM CET June 26, 2017. The drawing for Phase 3 will take place on June 27, 2017. At least 500 pairs of tickets will be drawn in Phase 3.
- Participation in Phase 4 will only be possible between 12:00 AM CET June 27, 2017, and 11:59 PM CET July 2, 2017. The drawing for Phase 4 will take place on July 3, 2017. At least 25 pairs of tickets will be drawn in Phase 4.
Sec. 1. Organizer and Recognition of the General Terms and Conditions of Participation
(1.1) These general terms and conditions of participation (hereinafter referred to as “General Terms and Conditions of Participation”) apply for participation in all Global Citizen Rewards sweepstakes at the Global Citizen website (hereinafter referred to as "Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes") conducted by Global Poverty Project UK, Ltd, 19 Fitzroy Street, London, W1T 4BP, United Kingdom (hereinafter referred to as “Sponsor”). These Terms and Conditions concern sweepstakes in which the winner is drawn by lot.
(1.2) Individual Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes may deviate from the General Terms and Conditions of Participation. The deviations will be disclosed and announced in the individual Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes.
(1.3) Participation in Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes is not linked to the purchase of a good, service, donation or the like. Participation is free of charge.
(1.4) The Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes ends at 23:59 MEST/CET on the day indicated as the entry deadline on the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes website. This period is hereinafter referred to as "Action Period".
(1.5) By participating in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes, the participant expressly acknowledges and agrees to the General Terms and Conditions of Participation.
(1.6) Complaints relating to the conduct of the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes must be made in writing to the Sponsor, specifying the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes, within 14 days from becoming aware of the reason for the complaint. Complaints reported by telephone or late complaints will not be accepted.
(1.7) The courts of London shall have jurisdiction over all disputes arising from and in connection with the General Terms and Conditions of Participation as well as the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes insofar as statutorily permissible.
Sec. 2. Eligibility to Participate
(2.1) All natural persons who are at least 18 years of age and whose permanent residence is the Federal Republic of Germany may participate. Under no circumstances will the prize be distributed to a minor.
(2.2) Each participant is entitled to attend the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes multiple times unless explicitly excluded. .
(2.3) Employees of the Global Poverty Project, employees of cooperating partners of the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes, and all persons who are or were connected with the conduct of the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes are excluded from participation. The same applies to family members [Section 15 German General Tax Code (Abgabenordnung)] of the first and second degree of these persons as well as their cohabitating domestic partners.
(2.4) Participation in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes must occur during the Action Period. The electronically recorded completion of the task stated for the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes will serve as verification of observance of the deadline.
(2.5) The participants are solely responsible for the correctness of their personal data, in particular their email and postal address. By participating in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes, the participant affirms that all personal information provided is true. Otherwise, participation may be excluded pursuant to Sec. 5(3) of the General Terms and Conditions of Participation.
Sec. 3. Procedure and Participation in the Sweepstakes
(3.1) In order to participate in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes, the participant must log in or register (at no charge) at the Global Citizen website (www.globalcitizen.org/) with their name and email address, and redeem the number of points corresponding to the amount required per reward. The participant must have previously collected these points by completing actions on the Global Citizen website. The number of points for each individual contest is indicated on each action page (hereinafter referred to as “sweepstake website”).
(i) The participant either collects the number of points necessary for the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes by a random selection of actions and redeems the points prior to the entry deadline at the respective sweepstake website in order to participate in the drawing for the desired event,
(ii) Or if necessary, the participant must complete a selected action on the Global Citizen website by clicking on the "take action" button and then completing the action. Subsequently, the participant must return to the sweepstakes website before the entry deadline and participate in the drawing for the desired event.
(3.2) A participant is only eligible to win if they have purposely participated in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes for a certain event pursuant to the rules in Sec. 3(1) of the General Terms and Conditions of Participation
(3.3) The winner of each drawing (hereinafter referred to as “Global Citizen Rewards Winner”) will be determined by Global Citizen following expiration of the Action Period (Sec.1.4). The odds of winning depend on the number the participants. Global Citizen will notify the Global Citizen Rewards Winner in writing by e-mail within 72 hours of the announcement. The Sponsor is not responsible for and does not accept any liability for late, lost, misdirected or unsuccessful information of the Global Citizen Rewards Winner of the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes.
(3.4) The Global Citizen Rewards Winner must accept the prize within 72 hours of receipt of the notification of winning by the Sponsor by following the instructions provided in said notification. If the Global Citizen Rewards Winner fails to do so, the right to the prize expires and a new Global Citizen Rewards Winner will be determined.
(3.5) In the event that the Global Citizen Rewards winner cannot be contacted or has not satisfied all required Terms and Conditions of Participation, did not provide other requested information, or did not accept the prize within 7 days of notification by the Sponsor, the potential Global Citizen Rewards Winner loses their right to the prize. In the event that a potential winner is excluded pursuant to Sec. 5 of the General Terms and Conditions of Participation, the Sponsor retains the right to award the prize in question to another Global Citizen Rewards Winner.
(3.6) The Global Citizen Rewards Winner agrees, without additional compensation and to the extent permitted by law, to the Sponsor publishing the Global Citizen Rewards Winner’s name and information about the prize for advertising purposes in any medium and understands that the Global Citizen Rewards Winner’s submission may be published in printed, image or text form, in connection with the Sweepstakes and its results and only in connection therewith. The Global Citizen Rewards winner declares their agreement with this form of publication.
Sec. 4. Prize
(4.1) The Global Citizen Rewards Winner wins for themselves and 1 (one) guest a pair of tickets (i.e., two tickets total) for the event indicated at the Sweepstakes website. All other costs are the responsibility of the Global Citizen Rewards Winner, as is travel to and from the event.
(4.2) The Sponsor is not responsible if the Global Citizen Rewards Winner cannot or does not claim their prize.
(4.3) A cash payment of the value of the prize or an exchange of the prize is excluded. The Global Citizen Rewards Winner likewise has no right to the difference between the actual market value and the specified equivalent value. In the event that the prize is no longer available, the Sponsor retains the right to replace the prize with a prize of equal or higher value.
(4.4) The right to a prize or a possible replacement prize is non-transferable and therefore cannot be assigned.
Sec. 5 Exclusion from the Sweepstakes
(5.1) Upon a breach of the General Terms and Conditions of Participation, Global Poverty Project reserves the right to exclude persons from the Sweepstakes.
(5.2) Participants who use unauthorized means or otherwise obtain advantages by manipulation will be excluded from the Sweepstakes. If applicable, in such cases prizes can also be denied retroactively and reclaimed. Anyone who provides false personal information or whose permanent residence is outside the Federal Republic of Germany is also excluded.
(5.3) The Sponsor retains the right to hand over the prize only to persons who satisfy all requirements of the Terms and Conditions of Participation.
Sec. 6 Early Termination of the Sweepstakes
(6.1) The Sponsor retains the right to end the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes at any time without advance notice and without disclosing reasons. The Sponsor will avail itself of this option in particular if an orderly conduct of the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes cannot be ensured due to technical reasons (e.g. viruses in computer systems, manipulation or errors in the hardware and/or software) or due to legal reasons. If such a termination is caused by the actions of a participant, the Sponsor can demand compensation from this participant for the damage incurred.
Sec. 7 Data Protection
(7.1) In order to be able to participate in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes it is absolutely necessary to register at the Sponsor's portal (http://www.globalcitizen.org) and to accept the privacy statement referenced there. Registration is free of charge.
(7.2) Every participant may revoke his / her participation in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes and his / her consent to the storage and utilization of his / her data. The revocation is to be made to: rewards@globalcitizen.org.
(7.3) Participation in the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes and any subsequent drawing is excluded upon deletion of the data.
Sec. 8 Liability
(8.1) The Sponsor is released from all obligations with delivery of the prize, unless an earlier date does not already arise from these General Terms and Conditions of Participation.
(8.2) The Sponsor disclaims any liability for material and/or legal defects of the event organizer.
(8.3) The Sponsor is not liable for the insolvency of the event organizer and/or partners nor for any consequences arising therefrom for the conduct of the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes.
(8.4) In addition, the Sponsor is not liable for the consequences of a justified change in the event offering or the justified cancellation of the event by the organizer. The option of a cash payment of the value of the ticket is excluded at all times.
(8.5) The Sponsor is liable only for losses caused by the Sponsor or one of its vicarious agents through intent, gross negligence or through the breach of a substantial contractual obligation. This expressly does not apply to losses arising from damage to the participant's life, limb and/or health.
To the extent the Sponsor's liability is limited or excluded, this also applies to the liability of employees, representatives and vicarious agents of the Sponsor.
This concerns in particular liability from or in connection with:
(i) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, erroneously addressed, incomplete or incomprehensible entries;
(ii) malfunctions, breakdowns or other circumstances of this nature, of telephones, electronic equipment, hardware or software, networks, the Internet, computers, regardless of whether this has been caused by human or technical failure,;
(iii) failed, incomplete, unreadable or late computer or email transfers;
(iv) caused by events outside the sphere of influence of the Sponsor;
(v) injuries, losses or damage of any kind that arise in connection with or as a result of the prize or of a part thereof, as well as the acceptance, possession, or utilization of the prize or of a part thereof, as well as through participation in the Sweepstakes;
(vi) or arising through any and all typographical or other printing errors in materials related to the promotion of the Sweepstakes as well as the Global Citizen Rewards Sweepstakes itself.
