More than 34,000 Syrian refugees, many of them children, call Jordan’s Azraq Refugee Camp home. Separated from their homeland, these individuals face an uncertain future. Yet they are determined to remake their lives and create better opportunities for their children. And access to quality education and next-gen learning is essential.

This is why HP has collaborated with UNHCR, InZone, and CARE to open an HP Learning Studio in the Azraq Refugee Camp.

The HP Learning Studio is equipped with the latest technologies, including the HP Sprout 3D scanning solution, personal systems, printers, and software, as well as teacher training services that together inspire instructional innovation and next-gen learning experiences.

The Azraq Refugee Camp educational program is part of HP’s efforts to support Sustainable Development Goal 4 and help bring quality education to everyone, everywhere, including those displaced by crisis or conflict.

The company has also partnered with Microsoft to launch the AppFactory solution at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, Africa. This program aims to bring quality learning to the people living in Dzaleka and works to improve software development, IT skills development, and entrepreneurship training in the camp. By teaching refugees to be technologically savvy, they will be better equipped to succeed in today’s digital economy beyond Malawi’s borders.

These educational initiatives also support the commitment HP announced last year at the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg to provide more than $20 million in technology, training, research and development, and funding contributions to enable better learning outcomes for more than 100 million people by 2025.

HP has already introduced several new technology solutions designed to connect individuals to educational opportunities wherever they live.

For example, the HP School Cloud will provide students, teachers, and adult-learners in rural and poor communities around the world with access to educational materials and applications. The HP School Cloud is a hybrid cloud appliance, meaning it acts as a wireless router, while also storing files and other content on its server, including a range of free, open source educational material.

And in India, HP is helping bridge the digital divide by providing citizens in remote villages with access to quality education, entrepreneurship training, and common public services through mobile HP World on Wheels (WoW) digital inclusion and learning labs. Each 20-seat, IT-enabled lab is equipped with HP technology, as well as software suites and e-learning tools.
