Why Global Citizens Should Care
The inaugural Global Citizen Prize award ceremony is the first major event in our 2020 campaign, Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream. We’ll be mobilizing Global Citizens, business leaders, governments, and philanthropists to join and enhance the fight to end extreme poverty by 2030, with the campaign to culminate in a historic 10-hour media event from across five continents. Join the movement by taking action with us here to help achieve the UN’s Global Goals by 2030.

It’s time for another update to the incredible lineup of hosts, artists, and presenters who are going to be celebrating and honoring some of the world’s leading activists with us at Global Citizen Prize.

The award ceremony is going to be held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Dec. 13, and broadcast around the world later in December. You can find out all about how you can tune in to watch wherever you are here

We’ve already announced that the show is going to see performances from Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, Sting, and Stormzy — with Chris Martin and H.E.R. performing as special guests.

And now we’re very excited to say that British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith — who was named Best Female Solo Artist at the 2019 Brit Awards — will also be joining the show.

But that’s not all. We can also reveal who our presenters are going to be for the night, and it’s going to be quite the festive treat. Connie Britton, Emma Bunton, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jason Derulo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Leona Lewis, Himesh Patel, and Kal Penn will all be there with us to mark the inaugural Global Citizen Prize award ceremony.

The Global Citizen Prize exists to honor the remarkable individuals who are driving social change in their communities and around the world.

As well as musical performances and calls-to-action for Global Citizens everywhere, the program will also feature the powerful and inspirational stories of people working in their communities to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and end extreme poverty by 2030.

On top of this — Global Citizen Prize is an award ceremony after all — we’ll be honoring the winners of the five Global Citizen Prize categories: Artist, World Leader, Business Leader, Global Citizen of the Year, and the Cisco Youth Leadership Award.

You can find out about who the winners are for each category here, with the exception of the Cisco Youth Leadership Award, the winner of which we’ll be announcing onstage at the Global Citizen Prize award ceremony!

You can read here about the five extraordinary finalists for the Global Citizen Prize: Cisco Youth Leadership Award, each of whom is driving inspirational and impactful change both in their communities and around the world to help end extreme poverty.

As we enter a new decade of action-taking to achieve a world free from extreme poverty, Global Citizen Prize will serve to remind us all that every one of us is capable of achieving great things.
