Emma Watson celebrated International Day of the Girl Child by thanking young feminists for their activism and encouraging fans to support the The Young Feminist Fund in an Instagram post on Thursday.
The actress shared a photo from the premiere of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001 when she was just 11 years old with an inspiring message.
"I want to celebrate by letting all the girls here know that I am truly and totally in awe of all the ideas, efforts and talents you're using to organise together and transform our world!" Watson wrote to 47.9 million fans across the globe in her post.

"I encourage you to check out @FRIDAfund - the only youth led fund focused on supporting the organising of young feminist activists all over the world because your work is critical to expanding, rejuvenating and sustaining social justice movements, now and in the future!" she added.
Watson has been a vocal advocate for gender equality for several years and became a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014. The actress has also been a prominent voice of the the HeForShe campaign, a UN Women-led effort to promote gender equality around the world and aims to engage men in the fight against inequality. Through the campaign, Watson has spoken out against sexual assault and rape culture on college campuses, among other issues.
After the #MeToo movement against workplace sexual harassment and assault gained traction resulting in the creation of the Time’s Up legal fund, the actress once again stepped up to the plate, donating £1 million to the fund, which supports victims of sexual assault.

Watson has continued to show great leadership in the wake of the #MeToo movement, which is still empowering women and girls around the world to break their silence and speak out, over a year since its conception.
While remaining an active voice for gender equality, Watson is also busy filming Greta Gerwig's upcoming adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel, Little Women — a coming of age story of four sisters living in America after the Civil War. Watson will star as the eldest sister alongside characters played by Florence Pugh, Timothée Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, and Meryl Streep.
