Droughts, floods, forest fires, insect outbreaks, extreme weather changes — the signs of climate change are everywhere, posing a fundamental threat to places, species and people's livelihoods.
Agricultural production is sensitive to weather but extreme changes are putting pressure on ecosystems that farmers depend on. Over three-quarters of the world’s poor live in rural areas and many of them depend on agriculture for their source of income. It is these vulnerable people who are hit the hardest by climate change.
As the world’s population continues to grow, so does the number of people going to bed hungry every night. It is estimated that 2 billion people don’t have access to safe, sufficient, affordable and nutritious food. This number will increase substantially unless we address the challenges posed by our changing climate and the impact it has on food production.
Take our quiz and find out how much you actually know about the threat to our food supply.
