The Earth Institute, Columbia University, mobilizes sciences, education and public policy to achieve a sustainable earth. Through interdisciplinary research among more than 500 scientists, the institute adds to the knowledge needed to address the challenges ahead. With over two dozen degree programs, we educate new leaders in the field of sustainable development. We work with governments, businesses and nonprofit organizations to devise innovative strategies to protect the future of our planet.
The Earth Institute’s work in earth sciences and sustainability is intricately tied to issues of poverty, education, environment and public health. The Global Poverty Project is unparalleled in its work to engage citizens globally in the fight to make our planet safe and equitable. Public awareness and engagement are crucial to our efforts as well, and building that awareness and engagement are the core reasons why The Earth Institute partners with the Global Poverty Project.
