Accessibility (ADA) at Global Citizen Festival

The Global Citizen Festival is committed to compliance with the ADA and will ensure that it offers compliant access to patrons with disabilities. Please be assured patrons with disabilities will not be discriminated against in any program or activity conducted during The Global Citizen Festival, nor will any individual be discriminated against because of their association with a person with a disability.

Eligibility

Because the festival has limited resources to assist patrons with disabilities, we respectfully request that individuals do not misrepresent a disability to access our designated ADA Accesible spaces. It is imperative we provide assistance to patrons who truly require accommodations.

Request for Accommodation

In order to best provide attendees with the proper accommodations at the Global Citizen Festival, we ask that all attendees seeking accommodations or access to the ADA Accesible section of the great lawn fill out this form.

We ask that you fill out the Request for Accommodation form at least 10 days prior to the event.

ADA Entrance

The entrance for the ADA Accessible section of the Global Citizen Festival is located at East 84th Street and 5th Avenue

Accessibility Wristband

Attendees wishing to enter the ADA section of the Global Citizen Festival will be required to wear an Accessibility Wristband.

The Accessibility Wristband will grant you access to:

  • The ADA Accessible section of the Great Lawn, where accessible seating, ASL Interpretation, and other services are provided for our attendees with disabilities
  • Access to the ADA Accessible entrance of the Great Lawn, located on 84th Street and 5th Avenue
  • Nearby concession stands and bathrooms
  • Permitted re-entry to the festival should you need to exit for any reason. (Please note: reentry is NOT available to any attendees not wearing an Accessibility Wristband

Due to space and resource limitations, only one (1) companion will be permitted per patron in the ADA Accessible section of the Great Lawn. Each companion will also be issued an Accessibility Wristband

Accessibility wristbands are not transferable.

Accessibility wristbands may be picked up at the Accessibility Center located inside the park on 84th street and East Drive.

Accessibility Center

The Accessibility Center will be located inside the park, just past the designated ADA Accessible Entrance on 84th Street and East Drive.

Here, attendees will be able to:

  • pick up Accessibility wristband an one (1) companion wristband
  • have all questions with regards to ADA and Accessibility answered
  • Get assistance from a member of the Accessibility Staff

Accessibility Staff

The Accessibility Staff are volunteers dedicated to ensuring that your needs are met and your safety is ensured.

Accessibility Staff will be available to:

  • escort patrons to the ADA Accessible section
  • answer questions and give directions
  • assist attendees in basic tasks (i.e. wheelchair navigation, water retrieval, ushering to seating, etc.)

Accessibility Staff will NOT be able to assist in any tasks that would be fulfilled by a Personal Care Attendant (i.e. personal hygiene, lifting out of wheelchair, etc.)

Interpretation Services

American Sign Language interpreters will be available for the entire duration of the event. These services are provided in partnership with Coty.

Interpreters will be located in a specific area of the ADA Accessible section with seating reserved for those attendees requiring their services.

If you will require access to an ASL interpreter, please indicate so on the Request for Accommodation form prior to the festival and inform a member of the Accessibility Staff when you enter the ADA Accessible section of the Great Lawn

Service Animals

Service Animals are permitted in all areas of the Great Lawn. Attendees with a disability who are assisted by a service dog may bring the leashed or tethered animal as permitted by the ADA.

Emotional Support Animals and pets are NOT permitted on the Global Citizen Festival premises and will be turned away.

Pets are not permitted at the Festival. Patrons with a disability who are assisted by a service dog may bring the leashed or tethered animal as permitted by the ADA (e.g., emotional support animals are not allowed on the Festival premises).

Festival staff may exclude service animals only if:

  • The animal is out of control and the handler cannot or does not regain control; or
  • The animal is not housebroken.

A Service Animal Relief area will be located near the ADA Accessibile section. Please look for signs or ask a member of the Accessibility Staff for directions.

Please Note: Due to the Global Citizen Festival’s length and noise levels and limited access to shade, for the wellbeing of the animal, we do not recommend that attendees bring their service animal.

Restrooms

Six (6) accessible portable restrooms are located near the designated ADA section.

Four (4) accessible portable restrooms are located at the bathrooms located in the General Admission Section of the Great Lawn.

Concession Stands and Dietary Restrictions

Every concession stand is accessible to patrons with disabilities. There is one located near the designated ADA section. Every concession stand provides gluten-free, nut-free, and vegetarian/vegan options.

If assistance is required at any of the food service areas, please alert the concession worker or a member of the Accessibility Staff team.

The Global Citizen Festival is a plastic straw-free zone, and no straws will be available on site. If you require a straw, please bring one from home.

Emergencies

Festival personnel have been trained in proper emergency preparedness regarding our guests with disabilities.

In the event of an emergency, Accessibility Staff will be present to assist you in your egress from the Great Lawn.
