Belém, New York City, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 // Global Citizen, the world’s largest movement to end extreme poverty, announced Gilberto Gil, Eric Terena, Kaê Guajajara and Djuena Tikuna will join the line up for Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia, taking place at the Estádio Olímpico do Pará, known as Mangueirão, in Belém, Brazil on November 1. The first edition of the festival to be held in Latin America will be co-hosted by Regina Casé, Mel Fronckowiak, Hugo Gloss, and Isabelle Nogueira, with special appearances by Rodrigo Santoro and Estêvão Ciavatta.

Additionally, prominent leaders and community elders have been added to the festival program, including Sônia Guajajara, Minister of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil; Célia Xakriabá, Federal Deputy, Minas Gerais State; Helder Barbalho, Governor, Pará State; Samela Sateré Mawé, Biologist, Artisan, Indigenous Communicator & Climate and Indigenous Rights Activist; and Juma Xipaia, Chief of Kaarimã Village, Xipaya Indigenous Territory, Founder and Executive Director of the Juma Institute, and Producer of the film YANUNI.

They join previously announced performers including Gaby Amarantos, Anitta, Seu Jorge and Chris Martin of Coldplay, as well as an appearance by Chief Raoni Metuktire. Doors will open at 4:00pm, and the live event will start at 5:30pm. The broadcast will begin nationally and internationally at 7:00pm. 

Additional participants announced today include Jean Ferreira da Silva, Executive Director, Gueto Hub & Co-Creator, COP das Baixadas; José Kaeté, Communicator and Indigenous Activist; Hugo Loss, Environmental Analyst, IBAMA; Luene Karipuna, Young Indigenous Leadership, Karipuna People; Communicator & Activist; Priscila Tapajowara, President, Mídia Indígena; Puyr Tembé, Secretary of State for Indigenous Peoples of Pará; Úrsula Vidal, Journalist & Secretary of Culture of Pará State; and Vanuza do Abacatal, Political and Spiritual Leader of Abacatal Quilombo.

Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia will mark the culmination of Global Citizen’s year-long campaign to Protect the Amazon. To date, the campaign has secured over $345 million in commitments, including $135 million from Everland; $100 million from the Inter-American Development Bank; $26 million from the Jaguar Rivers Initiative; $20 million from a coalition of organizations including Rainforest Trust, Andes Amazon Fund, Art Into Acres, Liz Claiborne Foundation and Re:wild; and $10 million from the Thistlerock Mead Company. Suriname pledged to pass the Sustainable Management of Nature Law and codified to preserve 90 percent forest coverage, approximately 15 million hectares.

Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia will be broadcast across Brazil exclusively on Globo, including live on Multishow, and Globoplay, open to non-subscribers in Brazil, with highlights airing free on TV Globo, so viewers across Brazil can watch and take action in real time. Outside of Brazil, the festival will be live streamed globally on YouTube, and on ViX across the U.S., Mexico and Latin America.

Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia is presented by Banco do Brasil. Tickets to Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia are available exclusively to the residents of Belém and Pará State, Brazil, and can be earned by taking action on the Global Citizen app or website, or by sending a WhatsApp message to +55 (11) 4040-7099 to demand action to end deforestation, accelerate a just transition to renewables and support communities on the frontlines of climate impacts. Eligibility will be confirmed through a residency verification process.

To make Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia accessible to all, including those without smartphones or internet access, and ensure that historically underrepresented communities have equitable access to attend, Global Citizen has partnered with the State of Pará and a network of regional organizations to distribute tickets directly to Indigenous peoples, local communities and young people from across the Amazon region, including Usinas da Paz, SEPI (Secretary of Indigenous Peoples of Pará), Mídia Indígena, COP das Baixadas, REPAM (Rede Eclesial Pan-Amazônica), and Grupo Funtelpa.

The agenda and impact strategy of the Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia campaign are being developed in consultation with a coalition of supporters, including leading social movements, foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Currently, there are over 190 civil society partner organizations from around the world, including Indigenous groups, quilombola communities, and local organizations in Brazil, which have been and continue to be essential in raising and strengthening the issues related to the protection of the Amazon and other biomes.
