Sustainability
In alignment with Global Citizen’s campaign to Protect the Amazon, Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia will be a zero carbon footprint festival. The live event will be entirely powered by battery power and biodiesel generators, offset by solar power gathered by Mangueirão. All carbon emissions will be monitored, offset, and reported by independent experts following the festival, including Hope Solutions, who will conduct a full post-event GHG Assessment and Impact Report. The entire carbon footprint of the festival will be offset by Comerc Energia and Future Climate. To reduce the environmental impact of the festival, a majority local crew will produce the event using local equipment. The festival site will employ sustainability best practices, including recycling and compost stations, sustainable food packaging, and the reduction of single-use plastics, in partnership with Rock World’s Sustainability Operations team.
The agenda and impact strategy of the Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia campaign are being developed in consultation with a coalition of supporters, including leading social movements, foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Currently, there are over 190 civil society partner organizations from around the world, including Indigenous groups, quilombola communities, and local organizations in Brazil, which have been and continue to be essential in raising and strengthening the issues related to the protection of the Amazon and other biomes. The full list of partners can be found on the official campaign page: globalcitizen.org/protect-the-amazon
Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia is presented by Banco do Brasil.
