Fact: 1 in 3 people worldwide lack access to a toilet.

The staff at Global Citizen's New York City office, meanwhile, have a toilet one minute away from their desks. 

As someone who works at that office, I'll be the first to admit I take that luxury for granted. A clean, convenient, and private restroom makes my day so much better—but 2.4 billion people are missing out. 

Time to check my toilet-related privilege. In honor of World Toilet Day, my fellow NYC staffers and I challenged ourselves to climb the stairs to the 9th floor of our building every time we needed to go. We'll never really know what it's like to live without a proper toilet. The least we can do is force ourselves to think about it a little more.
