What does a small ski town in the Swiss Alps have to do with ending extreme poverty? A lot, actually.
The annual World Economic Forum, which takes place in Davos, in the Swiss Alps, attracts the world’s most influential voices and leaders where they come together to discuss the world’s biggest challenges and how to solve them.
That’s why Global Citizen is participating in a special forum at the World Economic Forum, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, in Davos next week.
With Global Citizen Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas, we’re taking part in a fireside chat on January 21, 2020 to call on billionaires, corporations, and world leaders to use their budgets and wealth to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Other participants in the afternoon's program will include Belgium's Deputy PM Alexander DeCroo, South African disability activist Eddie Ndopo, P&G's Chief Brand Officer Marc Pritchard, Chair of the Board of Gavi Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Chief Strategy Officer of Verizon Rima Qureshi, Kenyan food and nutrition activist, Wawira Njiru, Teneo CEO Declan Kelly, and Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans.
The event, co-hosted by MIT Connection Science, Tata Consultancy Services and Forbes, will announce Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream, a 2020 campaign led by Global Citizen, CEO advisory firm, Teneo, and the United Nations to help secure $350 billion in commitments to achieve the end of poverty. The campaign will culminate on September 26, 2020 with a global series of concerts and events, uniting the world in a shared mission to end extreme poverty by 2030.
