SOLD,” on Apple TV, Drama

The scale of human trafficking around the world is immense — both in financial and human terms — and 80% of people sold into modern slavery are women. “SOLD” follows the story of one such victim, 13-year-old Lakshmi from Nepal, who was sold by her family into prostitution at a brothel in Kolkata, India, that is called, ironically, Happiness House. The movie is based off Patricia McCormick’s book of the same name
