Last night, Global Citizen joined with Windows to #UpgradeYourWorld through the Global Goals. Gathering at the Microsoft Loft, the panelists discussed how technology plays an important role in making the goals a reality.

This is part of the Windows 10 initiative to partner with 10 global nonprofit organizations to shine a light on their efforts to make the world a better place. This panel discussion was a marquee event to combine Microsoft and Global Citizen’s resources to raise awareness and support for the Global Goals.

MSNBC Anchor, Richard Lui moderated the discussion between Actress Rachel Brosnahan, CEO and Co—Founder of Global Citizen Hugh Evans, Global Citizen Ambassador and Co-Founder at Africa Rising Foundation Kweku Mandela and Director of Global Programs for Microsoft Philanthropies Jane Meseck.

The group was also joined by YouTube star FouseyTUBE, showing his spirit and commitment to teaching his millions of fans about the issues behind extreme poverty.

Focusing on the role of technology Rachel Brosnahan had some great insights. She said, “encouraging dialogue and sharing personal stories is important in bringing awareness to global issues.”

“Alone we can feel helpless to make a difference, but together as a movement we can be incredibly powerful,” Hugh Evans added.

Technology is playing a crucial role in connecting global citizens to world leaders. Hugh Evans said the first step is to use that power to “ask world leaders to go on record with the specific commitments they’ve made.”

Global Citizen and particularly the advocacy around the Global Citizen Festival have harnessed the global reach of technology to do just that.

In this 3 part series, you can see the story of how Global Citizen is #UpgradingYourWorld through the Global Goals, made in proud partnership with Microsoft.
