This weekend, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Demi Lovato, Major Lazer, and Metallica are headlining the 2016 Global Citizen Festival in New York City's Central Park. If you can't make it in person, find out how to you can watch and follow along with all the action here.

Attending the Global Citizen Festival can be a lifechanging experience. Surrounded by people who want the best for our world, you see global leaders, celebrities, musicians, and everyday changemakers take the stage to share their stories and committments to help make the world a better place.

And the only thing that can ruin the moment is by not being prepared.

There are a few things which can help you enjoy the most out of 2016 Global Citizen Festival. As you can see in the photo above, you’ll definitely want to bring your mobile device — some moments are just too good not to share.

We also suggest bringing layers for the day, because rain or shine, the gates will open at 2 p.m., and by the time you leave it will be a chilly fall evening. Also remember — no umbrellas are allowed in the event space.

We’ll also have brand new merchandise available on the day of the festival. Or you can shop at http://store.globalcitizen.org/ beforehand and #showup with gear that’s always in style.

Here’s a few Global Citizen items to get you excited for this year’s festival.

Hoodie

It will be pretty chilly in the evening in New York City on Saturday. If you’ve ever tried watching an artist perform while shivering, it makes seeing your favorite like Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Demi Lovato or Metallica difficult. Opt for a hoodie or poncho instead. The one above is brand new this year!

Tees

We’re already featuring some new Festival Tees on the site now and will have more tees and tanks coming soon on Sept. 24. There is be even more available at the festival itself too. Make sure to come early because the most popular will sell out.

Long-sleeve

If you want to get Chris Martin’s attention this year, or just work on perfecting your layering skills, this long-sleeve shirt is perfect for either agenda.

Hats

Hand-knit in Peru, by Krochet Kids, this beanie was made with the Global Citizen logo and just released this year. Still basking in the end of summer and not ready for a beanie? We will have two new hats ready for purchase on Saturday online at the Global Citizen Shop

Products That Give Back

Ethical products place true meaning behind the economic term “purchasing power.” They give each individual the chance to change the world and make a difference. Ethical products can be hard to find, so we’ve curated a bunch here. Including a new custom made Matte Black Giving Key necklace, and this bracelet to remember to leave the park and everywhere you go “better than you found it.”

If you can't be in Central Park and plan to watch from home on MSNBC or our livestream, we got you covered. Munch of these life-saving snack bars, and slip into a pair of a silky pair of PUNJAMMIES made by Sudara, an inspiring brand keeping women out of sex slavery. It’s going to be a great night no matter where you are!

What Else Should I Bring?

Portable Charger/Power Bank — With our new app, there’s lots of action to take already. More will be more happening on the day of the festival. A portable cell charger to make sure you can share Rihanna’s performance and catch the many major commitments about to take place to end poverty is a good idea.

Sunscreen — 2016 is the hottest year on record. Until we collectively cool down this planet, protect your skin from harmful UV rays while you’re out.

Comfy shoes — Between dancing, food, friends, and major commitments (not to mentioned waiting in line if you get there early) comfortable shoes are definitely recommended.

Empty water bottle — In an effort to be more sustainable than ever, this year we will have refillable water stations at the festival. You can bring an empty plastic water bottle (sorry, no Swells or metal bottles) or purchase a refillable water pack for about the same cost as a plastic water bottle once inside the festival grounds.

Beach towel — You can't bring large blankets into the park, but we do recommend bringing a beach towel to enjoy the lawn during the day. It's still summer, right?

Once you’re ready for the day, can carry everything in a tote, or mini purse if you’re able to fit everything in there.

Attendees of past Global Citizen Festivals have had some great outfits and ideas of what to bring. Check out photos below for more inspiration.
