The 2015 Global Citizen Festival has a celebrated list of attendees. Leaders from government, international organizations, entertainment and global citizens from around the world will be in Central Park this Saturday. This amazing group of talented, committed people is now even more illustrious.

Confirmed today: Vice President of the United States of America Joe Biden and First Lady Michelle Obama are coming to the 2015 Global Citizen Festival.

They are coming because they know the world needs committed activism. They know that a girl with an education can shape her own destiny, lift up her family, and transform her community. And they know that 62 million adolescent girls around the world do not have this opportunity because they are not in school.

President Obama, Vice President Biden and the First Lady are leaders when it comes to sending girls to school. They launched Let Girls Learn, an initiative to support the 62 million adolescent girls around the world missing from classrooms.

And now the Vice President and the First Lady are bringing that passion to the stage at the Global Citizen Festival on the Great Lawn in New York City’s Central Park.

Hugh Evans, co-founder of the Global Citizen Festival and co-founder of the Global Poverty Project, greeted the news with excitement, saying:

"We are truly overwhelmed to have the support of Vice President Joe Biden and the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. Vice President Biden has been a fierce advocate for America's leadership role in global development, all the more pertinent on the eve of the launch of the United Nation's Global Goals. We are thrilled to give the Festival stage to Mrs. Obama on Saturday to tell the world about the Let Girls Learn initiative, and look forward to supporting this historic campaign over the years to come" said Hugh Evans, co-founder of the Global Citizen Festival and co-founder of the Global Poverty Project.

If you’re on the Great Lawn in Central Park or in your home in India, you can join Vice President Joe Biden and First Lady Michelle Obama in calling for change, by watching the YouTube livestream at globalcitizen.org/livestream or on MSNBC.

It is time to get girls in the classroom. It is time to celebrate and embrace the Global Goals.  And it is time to welcome Vice President Joe Biden and Michelle Obama to the stage at the Global Citizen Festival.
