Today is a huge day.

World leaders are gathered together in Berlin to make pledges in support of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

For the past year in the United States, global citizens like you have signed petitions, tweeted at key government leaders, and called the White House to ask the government to pledge $1 billion over 4 years to Gavi. Over 46,000 global citizens took action in support of increased access to vaccines. In November, Global Poverty Project joined partners like ONE, RESULTS, and the United Nations Foundation to handover all of the petition signatures to Raj Shah, the Administrator of USAID.

Now, US leaders in Germany just pledged $1 billion over 4 years to increase access to vaccines!

Global citizens fought hard for this, and together we won. The actions you took will directly help millions of people get vaccinated. From the Global Citizen Festival stage, to the halls of Congress, Global Poverty Project with the support of global citizens worked as part of a broad coalition to get the US Administration's attention. And it worked. I’m so proud of what our movement has accomplished. This shows what’s possible when global citizens work with a broad coalition of NGO partners on an important issue. Today’s pledge demonstrates a huge increase of support for global health.
