On November 1, 2025, history unfolds in the heart of the Amazon. As world leaders meet at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Global Citizen will launch Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia, the world’s first impact concert set in the Amazon.

Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia is the culminating moment in Global Citizen’s Protect the Amazon campaign  — a year of action to address the most pressing effects of the climate crisis. The concert will feature Brazilian superstars Anitta, Gaby Amarantos, and Seu Jorge as festival headliners. Speakers will include local indigenous leaders such as Chief Raoni Metuktire, and a special guest performance by Coldplay's Chris Martin.

“It is an immense joy to be part of Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia, which is taking place in my homeland, Belém. This event is much more than music; it is a global call to protect and value the Amazon, its biodiversity, and the people who live here,” said Gaby Amarantos. “As an artist from the Amazon, I feel both the responsibility and the pride of bringing the voice of my region to the world, showing how urgent it is to care for our forest, our culture, and our communities. The Amazon is a source of life, resilience, and hope. Participating in this collective movement is an important step toward the future we want, where development and preservation go hand in hand. I invite everyone to join in this vital struggle for climate justice and respect for Indigenous and traditional peoples.”

More Than Music: A $1 Billion Mission

This historic concert, featuring performances from global and local artists, will help raise $1 billion to protect, restore, and rewild the Amazon rainforest, and call for concrete commitments from world leaders at COP30. The event will also amplify Indigenous-led movements, honor civil society campaigns pushing for climate action.

“As we move toward COP30 in Belém, standing alongside Global Citizen in Brazil helps to shine a  light on our stories, our struggles, and our solutions,” said Chief Raoni Metuktire. “Working side by side in this festival can help us change the course of the planet, showing that protecting the forest and respecting its guardians is the path to a possible future.”

Backed by Global Voices, Led by Local Power

Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia production partners Live Nation and Rock World; organizing partner Re:wild; and supporting partners Bezos Earth Fund, Open Society Foundations, Teneo, and the State of Pará.

“In our visits to the Amazon and conversations with Indigenous leaders and community elders, Global Citizen has heard their call, and we are honored to accept their invitation to partner with their communities. We acknowledge our responsibility to listen, learn, stand alongside, and amplify – as loudly as we can – both the voices and the urgent needs of Indigenous and local communities,” said Michael Sheldrick, Co-Founder and Chief Policy, Impact and Government Relations Officer, Global Citizen. “That’s what the Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia campaign is all about. Not only are we laser focused on building a global coalition to raise $1 billion for the rainforest’s preservation, but we are dedicating our advocacy, energy and platforms to centering and amplifying these powerful calls to action, culminating on our festival stage on November 1st to ensure their voices cannot be ignored.”

Setting a New Standard for Sustainable Events

Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia is set to deliver one of the most environmentally conscious live events South America has ever seen. Through innovative sustainability initiatives and partnerships, Global Citizen is reducing our footprint across travel, power, and production. Here’s how.

  • Battery-powered stage, recharged by solar: The festival’s main stage at the Mangueirão stadium will be powered by the mobile, solar rechargeable battery system used during Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” World Tour — marking its first-ever use in Brazil.
  • Sustainable energy legacy project: The solar-powered battery system will stay in Brazil to serve as a renewable energy resource for future events throughout 2026, leaving behind a legacy of sustainable innovation.
  • Event waste minimization & diversion: Continuing the sustainability practices Global Citizen Festival has employed for over a decade in New York, landfill waste will be dramatically reduced through the use of compostable packaging and where possible reusable and recyclable materials. Any excess food will be donated locally, and attendees will have free access to water refill stations at the venue.
  • Third-party accountability & emissions mitigation: Third-party sustainability consultants, Hope Solutions, with support from Rock World and Live Nation, will design a unique and measurable emissions reduction strategy to reduce the festival’s environmental footprint.
  • Freight & travel: The festival will curb travel emissions by hiring local crews, reducing cargo shipments, and cutting back on new fabrication and material use in staging and infrastructure. Global Citizen will also work to reduce travel and transport impacts, as well as track carbon emissions for beyond value chain mitigation in support of projects in Amazonia.
  • Event sustainability guidelines & training: Local Brazilian teams, partners, and event networks will be equipped with international event sustainability standard best practices through the creation of bilingual handbook materials and both pre-event and onsite training.
What We’re Demanding From World Leaders

The climate crisis affects all of us, but it affects the world’s most fragile and vulnerable communities the most. To defend the planet, Global Citizen is creating this platform to galvanize the world’s attention on the climate crisis through these asks:

  • End Deforestation: The world's tropical rainforests are the lungs of our planet — but they’re being pushed to a point of no return. To fight back, Global Citizen is campaigning to raise $1 billion in new investments to protect and restore the Amazon, and urging countries to recognize and strengthen the land rights of Indigenous peoples, whose stewardship is essential to safeguarding the rainforest.
  • Accelerate a Just Transition to Renewables: Without stopping the use of fossil fuels, global climate goals are out of reach. We are advocating for countries to submit ambitious national climate plans (NDCs) that set clear timelines for phasing out fossil fuels and committing to a future powered by renewable energy.
  • Support Communities on the Frontlines of Climate Impacts: Ending extreme poverty requires the world’s biggest emitters to support communities bearing the brunt of the climate crisis, from deadly heat and rising seas to crop failures and water shortages. We are pushing for stronger financial commitments to ensure that those on the frontlines of climate change have the resources they need to adapt and thrive, and that mechanisms are in place to ensure that polluters pay for the damage they cause.
