Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Feder.al Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has been a long-time friend of Global Citizen.

In September 2013, Dr. Tedros attended the annual Global Citizen Festival in Central Park and invited 60,000 people to visit Ethiopia during his powerful speech.

In November 2013, the It Takes Two team traveled to Ethiopia, where Minister Tedros extended his warm hospitality to the campaign leads Matti and Janna, photographed below.

At the meeting, Dr. Tedros signed the It Takes Twopetition, which aims to promote gender equality, especially in health and education.

At the signing, Dr. Tedros noted that family planning is “key to poverty alleviation” and an“investment for the future”. He recognized the impact of the Global Citizen movement and our power to drive policy change.

Today, the It Takes Two campaign has mobilized over 60,000 people around the world. Now, we need to urge governments to come through with their political commitments.

Let’s take a step forward and call on government representatives like Tedros to support women and girls in the new development agenda.

Email your government now, and ask them to invest in reproductive health and family planning. We will make sure your message is heard.
