Personally, I’m not a scientist. Indeed, as soon as science stopped being a compulsory subject at high school, out I jumped. And I even refused to watch reality TV shows set in hospitals, because I just couldn’t derive any enjoyment from watching people getting sliced and probed.
So it was with a heavy heart that I pressed play on the video at the top of this page, which vowed to explain the medical dimension of Ebola. But I made it through – the video explained in an accessible way how Ebola attacks the human body, and why our bodies find it difficult to right back and boot the virus out. And it didn’t show me footage of blood - I was grateful for that.
Give it a go!
The closing statement in the video was a winner, too. “The most infectious bit about Ebola, is the media hype around it”. Yup, preeeetty much.
