US foreign aid has played a pivotal role in helping to cut global child deaths by one-half since 1990.

This truly is the greatest story in the history of human health.

Without the leadership of the USA - families, communities, faith-based organizations, charities, and the government - success on this scale would not have been possible.

Yet 6 million children under the age of 5 still die per year, most from preventable causes—that is 18,000 children per day! Most of these children live in a handful of regions where they do not have access to the living conditions and the medicines they need to keep them healthy. It is time to change this, and expand on what constitutes a childhood, helping children thrive, not only survive.

All children deserve to have a childhood protected from disease, violence and abuse on the path to a world without extreme poverty by 2030. With the continued support of the US government, we could end preventable child deaths in the next 20 years.

Together let's ensure children are able to live beyond their 5th birthday. Please join us in calling on Dr. Raj Shah, Administrator of USAID, to increase the impact and effectiveness of us aid investments around ending preventable child deaths.
