With so many bad things in the news recently — honor killings, attempted coups, shootings, and more — it’s easy to feel a little down about the world.

Fortunately, US TV host James Corden has an anecdote. First lady Michelle Obama made an appearance on his popular series “Carpool Karaoke” and they rocked out to Stevie Wonder and Beyoncé. Missy Elliott pops in for a surprise performance of the first lady’s anthem “This Is for My Girls.”

The first lady has been a very strong proponent of women and girls issues while in the White House. She recently traveled to Africa to promote her Let Girls Learn initiative, which aims to help adolescent girls gain access to education. The proceeds of “This Is for My Girls” benefit the Peace Corp’s Let Girls Learn fund.

Corden asks the first lady a few questions about living in the White House, like if she’ll miss the 24-hour room service that the White House provides.

Obama said it wouldn’t be a problem.

“I can make a mean grilled cheese sandwich,” Obama insisted.
