Ludacris Is Quietly Buying Groceries for Atlanta Shoppers in Need
The rapper has been spotted picking up the tab at Whole Foods.
A good samaritan is never too famous to help another in need.
That’s what fans of rapper and actor Ludacris are saying, after the star reportedly paid for a woman’s groceries last week when she was unable to cover her bill at Whole Foods, reported Us Weekly.

“I was crying so much that I wouldn’t have even been able to recognize Elvis,” Therra Cathryn Jaramillo told CNN following her encounter with Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, who calls Atlanta home and was shopping at the area grocery store. She reportedly stared at him through tears, thinking, “Does this guy know he’s an angel?”
Since losing her husband to brain cancer in 2014, Jaramillo told Fox 8 Cleveland that she has struggled financially while taking care of four rescue dogs, two rescue cats, and an elderly, blind chicken named Dixie.
A friend had purchased her a gift card for the grocery store, and while she was in the checkout line, she realized that some of her items had gotten mixed in with the man in front of her, she told reporters. But when she tried to remove them, the stranger offered to cover the entire lot.
The man, who only identified himself as “Chris,” according to Us Weekly, paid for all of $375 of Jaramillo’s groceries and then went on his way. As Jaramillo stood there in shock, the cashier shared the true identity of her benefactor.
Now, Jaramillo said she’d like to pay it forward, asking friends on Facebook to donate toward the rapper’s charity, the Ludacris Foundation.
According to his fans on social media, this isn’t the first time Luda has secretly paid for stranger’s groceries.
