Today, CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen are proud to announce a long-term partnership to build a global campaign that will create change for girls and women around the world.

Gender equality is fundamental to Global Citizen’s long-term objective of ending extreme poverty by 2030. Today, women make up half of the world’s population, but over 60% of the world’s poor. Women perform two-thirds of the world’s working hours, yet make only 10% of the world’s income. And women own only a fraction of the world’s property, restricting their ability to build financial security, and pull themselves and their families out of poverty.

This is outrageous. And this CAN CHANGE.

CHIME FOR CHANGE, founded by Gucci in 2013, was built to unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world. Over the next five years, CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen are teaming up to engage millions of people to take meaningful action in support of girls and women.

Powerful voices of the movement for girls and women, including CHIME FOR CHANGE co-founders, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Salma Hayek Pinault, will be pushing global citizens to support the most effective tool for development: women (to paraphrase former Secretary General of the UN Kofi Annan).

Together, we will aim to achieve measurable outcomes for girls’ and women’s issues, leveraging the combination of our powerful platforms, communities, partners and influence.

CHIME FOR CHANGE and Global Citizen believe empowering women is key to ending extreme poverty.

This is your chance to speak up and “chime” for the change you want to see in the world. Because you know that the world cannot move forward if half of humanity is held back.
