Today I'm excited to present the first installment in Global Citizen's brand-new video series: Global Questions.

Ever wondered what some of the biggest names in global advocacy have to say about the issues that matter to you? This is the series you’ve been waiting for.

Global Questions brings you quick, informative interviews with global citizens around the world who are leading the charge against extreme poverty. Be sure tosubscribe to the Global Citizen YouTube channelso you’ll never miss an installment.

In honor of Girls and Women Month, this week’s installment features Gertrude Mutharika, First Lady of Malawi, who shared her passion for girls’ and women’s issues at Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day in Washington, DC.

I thought Mrs. Mutharika hit the nail on the head when she said, “When a girl is educated, that means that she will take care of the surrounding.” In other words, investing in girls and women pays big dividends not just on an individual level, but for the community as a whole. Wise words indeed.
