This impact story is brought to you by The One Campaign and Global Poverty Project partner on vaccines
WHAT'S THE COMMITMENT?
Following Global Citizen Festival 2013, Global Poverty Project committed to continue campaigning in support of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance's work, calling on donor countries to support its replenishment.
WHAT PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE?
Global Poverty Project is working with Gavi making its replenishment one of the key campaign platforms of the Global Citizen Festival 2014. In May we launched a petition with our friends at the ONE Campaign, calling on world leaders to commit the funds needed to immunize 300 million children from 2015 through to 2020.
WHAT'S THE IMPACT?
Our work to maximise impact for Gavi is ongoing. Replenishment of its funds will increase access to immunizations for people in developing countries, reducing one of the barriers people face in lifting themselves out of poverty. We expect to start sharing stories around the difference this will make from the autumn.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Global Citizen Festival in September 2014 will reveal the extent of Global Poverty Project’s support for Gavi since making this commitment. Specifically, we’re inviting the leaders of donor governments - including the US, Canada and Norway - to announce an early leadership pledge at the Global Citizen Festival. This will galvanize momentum and push the rest of the global community to step up its commitment ahead of the replenishment.
