Let it gooo. Let it GOOOOOOO.

Since the release of the Oscar-winning film Frozen, kids all over the world have sung (and squealed) this song at the top of their lungs, no doubt imagining themselves as Princess Elsa on top of a snow-covered mountain.

Now, one girl gets to join Idina Menzel and actually BE the popular Disney princess. Indian singer and Global Citizen Festival performer, Sunidhi Chauhan, has just agreed to lend her voice to the Indian adaptation of the animated movie.

Pretty soon, kids everywhere will be singing, “Fanaa ho, fanaa hooooooooo!”

And that’s not even the best part. Frozen has a twist ending that sends a powerful message to young girls.

I’ll be the first to admit that while watching this movie with my niece and nephew, I almost covered their eyes and yanked them out of the theatre when the younger Princess Anna immediately fell in “love” with the annoyingly charming Prince Hans (sorry, Hans Glick!).

But then, something special happened. The movie evolved into a story about the powerful bond between sisters.

SPOILER ALERT!

At the end of the movie, it’s Princess Anna’s commitment to protecting her sister, Princess Elsa, that truly saves the day. This animated moment hopefully proves to young girls that boys don’t need to be involved in all heroic tales. And in a world where female relationships are often illustrated as catty, it’s a much needed demonstration of a strong relationship between two young women.

Thank you, Sunidhi Chauhan, for making it possible for more young girls to benefit from Frozen’s empowering messages.

Don’t miss it! The Hindi version will air on December 12.
