Global Citizen Festival is an annual concert in New York’s iconic Central Park that brings together musicians, world leaders and global citizens to influence positive change on a global scale.

It takes place on Sept. 23, with headliners including Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers and loads more.

This year’s Global Citizen Festival matters more than ever, as more and more countries across the globe are focussing on Number One.

These countries — including the United States, where President Trump is pushing for 32% cuts to the international affairs budget in 2018, and the UK which is seeing a media war on the foreign aid budget — are not delivering on their promises.

They are retreating from the world, rather than leading it.

That’s why we'll be mobilising millions of Global Citizens to remind leaders as they gather for the UN General Assembly in September, of the worldwide agreement they signed onto just two years ago at the very same meeting — in which they committed to see an end to extreme poverty by 2030.

It is more vital than ever that we make a stand. Now.

The Global Goals are a commitment for the entire planet, and unless everyone plays their part — including the wealthiest countries like the UK, the US — we will never see a world where every single global citizen is given what they need to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.

Stevie Wonder said: “In this crucial time, there is nothing more exciting to me than having the honour of giving my gift of song, words and motivation to the Global Citizen Festival.

“I was, I am and will always be, a citizen connected to the spirit of everyone on this planet moving forward. Let’s go!”

Global Citizen founder and CEO Hugh Evans said: “Now, we are calling on activists and music fans to use their voice to change the world. Now, more than ever, we need to ensure we work together for the world’s poor."
