Who doesn't like fun.? Of course, I'm talking about the band that will be taking the stage at this year's Global Citizen Festival!

I got into fun. in college because my roommate would listen to their first album Aim and Ignite on repeat before going out. Though this was back in 2009 when the alt-pop band was relatively unknown, I wasn’t surprised in 2012 when they started to get serious radio play. Their hit singles like “Some Nights” and “Carry On” aren’t just catchy: they feel epic. I can’t wait to see some of that epic-ness at the Festival on Saturday.

The band's members are Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost, and Jack Antonoff. When they first got together in 2008, they probably didn’t imagine that their single “We Are Young” would be the first alt band to have their first chart entry to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 2001.

The second best thing about fun, aside from their music, is their dedication to good causes. The trio has been deeply involved in an organization that supports human rights in the US, as well as supporting various others through donations.

"We believe everyone should have equal rights. We look forward to performing with these incredible artists as we rally our fans to join us in helping to make the world a better, more equal place."

I love this quote because it also shows that fun. knows that supporting good causes goes beyond monetary donations. It’s artists like fun. that make the festival the powerful platform for policy change from world leaders.

As Festival day keeps getting closer, I keep getting even more excited to see fun. onstage. I know they will be able to rally those attending, and those watching from home, to join the movement to end extreme poverty.
