The cast of Game of Thrones is standing with the International Rescue Committee and asking you to help Syrian refugees.

Though the actors appear divided and power hungry in the characters they play on HBO’s most watched series, they know how to come together when it matters most.

The show will air it’s sixth season in April this year. Do you know what else is beginning it’s sixth year? The conflict in Syria.

As the world watched the violence on GOT for the past six years, the conflict in Syria continued, all too often being stuck in the background of life for those not directly affected by the conflict.

“This is no fiction – no fantasy… 16 million people are displaced worldwide,” Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known on the show as Jaime Lannister, finishes the sentence of one of many of his character's rivals.

Back in November, 60 world leaders from Europe and Africa got together in Malta, (aka the entrance to King’s Landing and filming location for Daenerys and Drogo's wedding). Their goal was develop a plan for the 650,000 Syrian refugees seeking asylum at the time. Now, in just January and February of this year 131,724 children, and family members in need of food, shelter journeyed across the Mediterranean in order to flee Syria. A massive increase that does not seem to be slowing down.

It’s easy to sit back and watch violence, poverty, groups of people fighting for land and power on television. It’s not easy to acknowledge these acts continue to destroy the lives of millions every day in the real world. Or to admit is that you have a role to play in ending the suffering and violence in Syria. But, as the cast of GOT says, “you can help” and reminds the world that “rescue has no boundaries.”

It’s time to come together just as Cersei, Jamie, Arya, Samwell, Sansa, and even Ramsay have, and stand in support of Syrian refugees by doing everything possible to help end this crisis.
