"Together, if we speak out now as one united, global voice, we have the power to make meaningful, lasting change in the way our children access, consume and understand food." - Jamie.Oliver
British Chef, Jamie Oliver isn’t shy when it comes to tackling issues of how current food systems negatively affect children and youth. And he’s taking it to the next level with Food Revolution Day on May 20.
Access to good, fresh, nutritious food is every child’s human right, but currently we’re failing our children. Millions of kids are eating too much of the wrong food, while millions more don’t get enough of the good stuff to let them grow and thrive. We need to unite as one strong, single voice to force governments and businesses to create a healthier, happier world for the future.Which is why HungerFree is joining Food Revolution Day to advocate for those who are most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition.
We believe a hungerfree world is possible when everyone has access to the right foods for today, enough food for tomorrow and sustainable food for the future. Unfortunately, millions of people are falling through the gaps. Malnutrition still claims the lives of nearly 3 million children under age 5 every year.
Together, we can each do our parts to end hunger and malnutrition by 2030.
We know that a hungerfree world is possible when everyone has access to:
THE RIGHT FOOD - A diverse diet of nutritious food is critical for everyone and is especially important to the development of children during the first 1,000 days of their
ENOUGH FOOD - Nutritious food must be affordable and locally accessible through productive agriculture that leads to more reliable food availability and through better access to food markets that leads to lower prices
SUSTAINABLE FOOD - Hunger and malnutrition is not simply a matter of insufficient food but the product of inadequate agriculture, health, distribution and governance systems. Sustainable food production systems and resilient agricultural practices are needed to ensure communities remain hunger-free in the future.
We believe this revolution ultimately looks like a hungerfree world! Here’s how you can be part of the Food Revolution:
