New York City has spoken, and it is fully on board with the Global Citizen Festival! The Empire State Building, one of the most recognizable buildings of the NYC skyline, is going to be lit up with Global Citizen red on Saturday night. The lighting ceremony itself was incredibly exciting as supermodel Erin Heatherton hosted the event with our CEO Hugh Evans. Take a look!

If you have never been to the Empire State Building it is hard to imagine how elegant even the lobby is.

It's pretty elegant.

Erin gave a speech about her passion for ending extreme poverty. She talked about how she has watched the movement grow and build momentum over time, and she shared how much it means to her to be a part of it.

Here she is getting a commemorative model of the Empire State Building.

Erin has been a host of the past two Global Citizen Festivals and is a dedicated ambassador and supporter of Global Citizen.

Here is Erin and our CEO Hugh.

Hugh gave a speech about ending extreme poverty and the reasons why we are holding the Festival.

To actually do the lighting, Erin and Hugh took hold of the handle of the imitation power switch and turned it on!

Best moment ever?

Afterwards, we went up to the 86th observation deck to look out at the city.

It was a little bit windy.

Even in the stormy weather, Hugh and Erin enjoyed chatting while taking photos.

To give you an idea of what it's going to look like on Saturday night, here is a pic from 2012.

The excitement is building!
