Can you feel that? The tremble beneath your feet, the buzz in the air, the momentum of a movement in the making. That, dear global citizen, is the bassline of something big heading our way. Clear your calendar, secure your tickets and turn up the volume this March 2026 — Move Afrika is returning with global superstar Doja Cat, set to headline. It’s all part of a growing live music tour that places people, creativity, and opportunity at its heart.

Brought to you by Global Citizen, Move Afrika is rooted in culture and built to support job opportunities, skills development initiatives, and creative industries across African cities. Now in its third year, the tour returns to Kigali, Rwanda, and expands to South Africa — connecting global artists with local talent, production crews, and audiences through world-class live events.

Global Headliner: Doja Cat

For the first time in her career, Grammy® award-winning global superstar Doja Cat will bring her high-energy performances to Africa as the headliner of Move Afrika 2026. This marks Doja Cat’s third collaboration with Global Citizen — and a major moment as she touches down in South Africa, a country tied to her heritage.

“From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria. This isn’t just a tour, it’s a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last,” said Doja Cat. “I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming, it’s already here.”

The global superstar’s vibrant sound and performances reflect Africa’s long-standing influence on global music and culture. Add to that Move Afrika’s commitment to support local creatives, technicians, and production teams, and you have a true ode to the continent as it stands today.

Additional regional and local artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

What are the 2026 Tour Dates?

Move Afrika 2026 will take place in two major cultural hubs:

  • Move Afrika: Kigali at BK Arena on March 17, 2026
  • Move Afrika: Pretoria at SunBet Arena on March 20, 2026

Reimagining Global Touring in Africa

The mission of Move Afrika is simple: African cities belong on the global touring map.

“We are honored to welcome Doja Cat as the headliner for Move Afrika 2026,” said Hugh Evans, Co-Founder & CEO, Global Citizen. “She has delivered unforgettable performances at some of Global Citizen’s most defining moments, from Paris to New York to the historic FIFA Club World Cup™ Final Halftime Show. Now she joins us as we expand across the continent, from Johannesburg to Accra, Kigali to Lagos, and now Pretoria. Move Afrika is redefining global touring by placing Africa’s creative excellence at the center of the international circuit, creating jobs, strengthening local creative industries, and driving long-term economic growth powered by culture.”

More than a concert series, Move Afrika is a long-term platform built with people at its core. Each event creates job opportunities across the live events value chain — from sound and lighting, to logistics and creative services — by working with local crews, suppliers, and artists. The result is hands-on skills transfer and stronger local production ecosystems aimed to extend beyond a single show.

Across previous editions, more than 90% of crew and production roles have been filled locally, with most equipment and services sourced in host countries. In addition, Move Afrika has already created more than 2,500 job opportunities across host cities. This approach prioritizes local expertise and builds capacity that lasts.

What began in Kigali in 2023 is steadily growing into a multi-city touring circuit that reached Lagos in 2025 with a sold-out edition, and is expanding to Africa’s southernmost country in 2026. Pretoria, it’s your turn, are you ready?

“We’re excited to welcome Global Citizen and Move Afrika back to Rwanda. Move Afrika’s return reflects our continued dedication to elevating Africa’s creative industries and using the influence of global entertainment to drive meaningful progress across the continent,” said Jean-Guy Afrika, Chief Executive Officer, Rwanda Development Board. “This partnership supports our vision of Rwanda as a premier destination for live entertainment, one that creates jobs for young people, unlocks new economic opportunities, and delivers lasting benefits for Rwanda and the continent as a whole.”

More Than Music: Job Opportunities, Skills, and the Creator Economy

Each edition of Move Afrika supports thousands of paid job opportunities across event production and delivery. Local crews work alongside international teams, gaining hands-on experience that builds capability and career pathways. Artists, designers, technicians, and vendors all play a role in shaping events that meet international standards while reflecting local identity.

By focusing on participation and skills, Move Afrika contributes to stronger creative industries and more resilient local economies.

Turning Culture Into Impact

Move Afrika also connects live music with broader social priorities that matter to the communities it reaches. In 2026, the campaign will continue to support engagement around strong and well-financed health systems — with a focus on primary care, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and access to quality health services.

The social impact aspect of this campaign is shaped and delivered in collaboration with local partners who lead engagement in their own contexts — amplifying existing work being done by grassroots initiatives.

A Long-Term Vision for African Cities

Move Afrika is designed to grow over time. By returning to cities and expanding to new ones, the tour supports continued investment in venues, skills, and creative networks. It creates opportunities for local talent to connect with global audiences, and for cities to host live events that meet international standards.

As the circuit develops, the aim is that African cities will stand out as hosts of world-class live music and cultural events built by Africans for Africans first.
