Winning Tuesday’s New Hampshire Democratic Party primary, Bernie Sanders became the first Jewish American to ever win a US Presidential primary.

Woah, what?

That’s right, can you feel the bern?

This man’s New Hampshire success broke some serious social barriers.

Many were excited because even though Sanders is not fond of organized religion, he still identifies as a proud Jewish American.

Being the first non-Christian to win a major political party’s presidential primary sends a message to Americans and global citizens everywhere. Everyone everywhere practices religion, faith, and spirituality differently and this should be something celebrated while not being a barrier to national office.

Earlier this year, Bernie shared his perspective on this religious matter with the Washington Post,  “I think everyone believes in God in their own ways,” he said. “To me, it means that all of us are connected, all of life is connected, and that we are all tied together.”

The Vermont Senator is showing us the simple truth that we are all connected and this primary win is a win for equality everywhere. Regardless of political affiliation this outcome should give global citizens everywhere a reason to applaud Bernie Sanders' achievement in New Hampshire.
