Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100, presented and hosted by the Motsepe Foundation, will be an all-day festival full of surprises!

Gates open at 11 a.m. and we have all sorts of exciting goings-on lined up to keep you entertained during the day. As if the lineup and incredible commitments to ending extreme poverty weren't enough…

A reminder that there will be no camping allowed outside the FNB Stadium the night before, but we’ve got loads of treats for the early-arrivals to give you a reason to leave the house in good time.

1. No spoilers…

But a major artist (we’re naming no names) will be opening the show with a never-before-seen collaboration that you seriously won’t want to miss just because you’re stuck in a queue to get your bag searched.

2. There will be road closures

You can find out about all the best ways to get to the FNB stadium here, but it’s always good to leave plenty of time for your journey to make sure you’re not stuck in a traffic jam while your favourite act is singing their heart out — or while world leaders are making incredible commitments towards ending extreme poverty by 2030.

3. Security

To make sure we keep you all safe and secure, so you can concentrate on enjoying the show, there will be tight security at the venue.

That means bag checks and security searches (find out more here), which do take time. You can beat the queue by being one of the first at the stadium when the gates open at 11 a.m.

4. Surprise ticket upgrades

Yep, you heard us right — those in their seats between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. could receive one of the hundreds of on-the-day ticket upgrades we’ll be giving away. It would mean you’d get some of the best views of the stage in the whole venue!

5. Unique entertainment

Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will be so much more than what’s going on on stage. There will also be unique art installations, food, drink, and so much more, from the second the gates open.

6. We’re breaking all the rules

This is not a normal concert, and we’re not going to be following the normal rules.

The beginning of the event will be just as exciting as the end, so make sure you don’t miss a moment.

7. Free travel!

Stay tuned to find out more information on how early birds can get to the festival for free.
