The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is worsening around the world as the number of new, daily infections continues to rise.

But organizations and scientists are valiantly working to find treatments and vaccines to protect global health and contain the outbreak.

The Global Goal: Unite for Our Future campaign was launched to support this effort and combat the disproportionate effect COVID-19 is having on marginalized communities, including people of color and those living in poverty.

The campaign calls on world leaders, corporations, and philanthropists to commit the funds necessary to ensure there are enough tests, treatments, and vaccines to equitably reach everyone, everywhere in the world.

These funds will go to organizations that collectively make up the World Health Organization’s (WHO) ACT Accelerator, specializing in the development, production, and delivery of tests, treatments, and vaccines.

Here are the seven ACT Accelerator organizations partnering with us for Global Goal: Unite for Our Future

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations (CEPI) is coordinating and funding the development of nine vaccine candidates in labs around the world. Its efforts are accelerating vaccine development like never before and will give us the best chance to find a safe and effective vaccine, and make it available to everyone, everywhere.

The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND)

The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) is leading efforts to accelerate development and access to diagnostics as part of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic. FIND is “testing the tests” to check they perform as claimed, helping to unblock bottlenecks in the global supply chain, and bringing together the global diagnostics community to address inequalities in testing, at a time where high demand and panic have caused shortages of tests, components, and technology, and a supply chain war.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance has protected a generation of children from deadly, debilitating disease. With the onset of COVID-19, Gavi is uniquely placed to lead the global effort to ensure everyone, everywhere has access to vaccines, so that we can prevent infectious diseases, rebuild health systems, and ensure safer, more prosperous futures for children, parents, and communities.

The Global Fund

As the largest multinational funder of prevention, diagnostics, and treatment to fight the world’s deadliest infectious diseases — AIDS, TB, and Malaria — the Global Fund is working to pool funds to lower the cost of — and signal demand for — the diagnostics and therapeutics developed for COVID-19. The Global Fund partners with R&D organizations to pool funds for countries to purchase life-saving tests and treatments. The Global Fund also works to ensure access to the quantities of quality personal protective equipment necessary to safeguard the frontline health workers in these countries.

The Therapeutics Accelerator

The Therapeutics Accelerator is coordinating critical research and development efforts, removing barriers to drug development, and scaling up treatments to address the pandemic. The Accelerator is providing fast and flexible funding at all stages from discovery and development to manufacturing, reducing risk across the process, and ensuring treatments can reach everyone who needs them, particularly the most vulnerable.

UNITAID

UNITAID works with partners to turn good ideas into groundbreaking solutions for global health. The impact of its partnerships shows in millions of ways every year: in children who will never get malaria because of a prevention approach the organization advanced, in people who are able to learn their HIV status through inexpensive self-test kits UNITAID created a market for, in women who avoid cervical cancer using its affordable screen-and-treat solutions, and in new hope for children and adults with drug-resistant tuberculosis.

The World Health Organization

The WHO is leading and coordinating the global response to COVID-19, helping all countries prevent, detect, and respond, especially where needs are greatest. The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO, powered by the United Nations Foundation, is the first and only way for individuals, corporations, and philanthropies to contribute directly to WHO’s global efforts, in line with its Strategic Response Plan, and the fastest way to get resources where they are needed most urgently. Donations help WHO and partners accelerate and coordinate global R&D, track and understand the virus, ensure frontline workers in more than 100 countries get vital equipment, and that patients get the care they need.
