It’s that time of year again in Australia when we honour our dads - happy father’s day to all the amazing dad’s out there!

So the question on everyone’s lips is what to get the dad who has it all? Well we went looking for the ultimate feel good present and we found this.

Good Spender is an online marketplace that connects you to a range of social enterprises so you can use your shopping dollar to make a difference. The platform is an initiative of Australia Post and Social Traders, who support and empower social enterprises.

On the site you’ll find gift ideas such as a recipe book supporting the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, undies that give back and coffee from STREAT and of course...socks.

Now socks may seem like a tired old boring gift for your dad but these socks rock!

Meet Conscious Step, an idea born by a trio of friends Hassan Ahmad, Prashant Mehta and Adam Long.

These socks not only come in a range of eye catching designs but each pair bought supports a different project helping disadvantaged communities. They also sport an embroidered symbol related to the cause as a reminder to the wearer of the impact they’re having. For example, a ribbon for HIV, a book for education and so on.

“I think deep down everyone wants to do good. The challenge is to make it really easy for them,” Ahmad said in an interview with online journal Broadsheet.

When choosing which causes to support, they used the Sustainable Development Goals as a framework.

One pair of socks could provide six food packs to malnourished children through Action Against Hunger, 20 trees planted in Kenya through Trees for the Future, or donate two books to school children in Asia via Room to Read.

They have gone to great lengths to ensure an ethical supply chain by using Chetan Organic farmers cooperative in India and also being Fair Trade certified.

The start-up initiative have big plans for the future including a range of socks for women.

Thanks to the dad’s of Australia for raising so many wonderful global citizens. Enjoy your socks!
