After reading through, #ShowYourSelfie to tell world leaders you care about the rights of adolescents and youth.

Everyone has the right to a quality education.

Yet, across the developing world, 58 million children are still out of primary school. The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) wants to change that. They're an incredible organization that are working with advocates and governments around the world to change the lives of millions of children.

Here are three reasons why their approach so important and why 2014 is the time for action:

1. We made a promise in the year 2000, it's time for us to keep it

In 2000, global leaders promised that no country seriously dedicated to achieving education for all should be held back due to a lack of resources. This promise has not been kept. Between 2010 and 2011, aid to basic education fell 6%, from US$6.2 billion to US$5.8 billion. Furthermore, only a tiny fraction of this aid is being spent in low-income countries.

GPE prioritizes the most marginalized children, especially those living in conflict-affected countries.

2. By working together, we can support the great work people are already doing

GPE is unique in that it brings together developing country governments with donor country governments, teachers, companies, and nonprofits, to pool resources and knowledge in support of education. This approach allows GPE to be most effective in supporting nationally-led education plans. GPE has already gotten nearly 22 million children into schools!

3. Getting girls into school needs to be a global priority

GPE’s strategy ensures that girls get to go to school, ensuring greater equity in education. In countries where GPE works, 72% of girls are now completing primary school, compared to 55% in 2002. This is amazing progress!
