Cubans waded through more than 4 feet of water in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Mexicans grieved after an earthquake — measuring 8.1 on the Richter Scale — caused death and destruction in the western part of the country.

Members of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslim minority were forced from their country and into neighboring Bangladesh in droves on the way to becoming the world's newest refugee crisis. And Friday morning, a bomb exploded on a London tube train, injuring at least 22 and leading Mayor Sadiq Khan to condemn acts of terrorism in a televised statement.
