Earlier this year, the Global Citizen Festival put extreme poverty - and the movement of Global Citizens taking action to end it - in the headlines.
Bringing top artists, anti-poverty advocates and almost 60,000 change makers together on the lawns of Central Park, New York for a massive advocacy concert - the Festival showcased public support for action on extreme poverty, and shared remarkable stories of progress and leadership in the fight to end extreme poverty.
Securing more than $1.3 billion in funding pledges for organisations fighting extreme poverty, and reaching more than 2 billion through media, the Festival has shown what is possible when Global Citizens come together.
We know that it is just the tip of the iceberg. Already 75,000 people have joined the Global Citizen movement, putting their hand up to learn and take action to change the systems that trap hard working people in the cycle of extreme poverty.
By coming together and raising our voices for change, Global Citizens have helped put an important global issue in the headlines, showing just how much public support there is for action on this issue. But this incredible event was just the beginning of the Global Citizen journey.
Now we need Global Citizens to help us build on the success of this remarkable event - getting active in their own communities to help share stories of remarkable success, inspiring opportunities, and movements for change.
Global Citizen is your tool to do just that. We've teamed up with key organisations and campaigns to help you find relevant and effective actions, and to share important and inspiring information about the change that is possible.
Over the coming months we'll continue to develop additional tools and features to help you take more and deeper action for change - things like volunteering, using your consumer power for good, and engaging your politicians in their role in the fight to end extreme poverty. To recognise your efforts, we'll also be launching new rewards to help you amplify your impact.
So we can serve you better, tell us in the comments below what your highlights have been so far, what you’re doing to fight poverty and be a Global Citizen, and what you’d like to see us doing more of.
