Terms and Conditions

  1. The Promoter is Global Poverty Project, Inc d/b/a Global Citizen of 594 Broadway, Suite 207, NY NY 10012, United States of America (“Promoter”).
  2. By entering the 2016 Global Citizen Youth Advocates Symposium Competition (the “Competition”), entrants accept these Terms & Conditions of Entry.
  3. Entry to this Competition is open to entrants aged 18 to 35 years old from around the world, excluding employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its related companies.
  4. To enter the Competition, entrants must follow the instructions at https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/awards/youth-advocates-symposium/ . Entries must be submitted from 9:00 AM EDT on 8 August 2016 until 11:59 PM EDT on 26 August 2016.
  5. Fifteen (15) Prize Winners will be selected for the Competition, consisting of a campaigning workshop in New York City, convened by the Promoter.
  6. To be eligible to participate in the Competition, chosen applicants must:
    1. hold a valid passport, and be responsible for any requisite visas required to travel to New York City, for the period 21-25 September 2016;
    2. be able to attend the 2016 Global Citizen Youth Advocates Symposium in New York City on 22 September, 2016;
    3. be able to attend the 2016 Global Citizen:The World on Stage event in New York City on 22 September, 2016;
    4. be able to attend the 2016 Global Citizen Festival in New York City on 24 September, 2016;  and
    5. agree to provide regular written updates to Promoter on their work following the symposium.
  7. In addition to the Prize, Promoter will pay for the following for each Prize Winner:
    1. return economy airfares to New York City for each Prize Winner, with the flight originating from the Prize Winner’s nearest capital city;  
    2. hotel accommodation in New York City for each Prize Winner for the period 21-25 September 2016;
    3. a per diem of USD$50 for the period of 21-25 September 2016;  and
    4. ground transportation to and from events hosted by Promoter, where the attendance of each Prize Winner is requested.
  8. Promoter will not be liable for any expenses other than expressly outlined above, including, without limitation, costs for passports, any requisite visas, insurance, transport to and from departure point, additional transfers, items of a personal nature, in-room charges and all other ancillary costs. Itineraries are to be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
  9. Prize Winners will be selected at 594 Broadway, Suite 207, NY NY 10012 on 29 August 2016.  Each Prize Winner will be contacted by email or phone within 5 business days of selection and will be announced on the Promoter website by 16 September 2016.
  10. The judges' decision is final and binding. As such, no correspondence will be entered into.
  11. This Competition is a game of skill and as such, the winners are selected based on the creativity of entries submitted.
  12. Prize Winners are advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winning and may wish to seek independent financial advice prior to the acceptance of the prize.
  13. All Prize Winners agree to the use of their name and  city for publicity and Competition purposes, without compensation.
  14. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  15. As a condition of accepting the Prize, each Prize Winner must sign any legal documentation as and in the form required by the Promoter, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity form.
  16. Each entrant's personal information ("PI") is collected to enable the Promoter to administer and promote this Competition and the Prize Winner. The PI of each Prize Winner may be provided to third parties who are assisting the Promoter, including prize suppliers, deliverers and authorities that regulate competitions. Entrants who fail to provide all requested PI, may be determined by the Promoter, at its sole discretion to be ineligible to win a prize. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.  The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this promotion is further governed by the the Promoter Privacy Policy.
  17. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, corruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer networks and systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by the Promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination of them, including any injury or damage to any entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Competition.
  18. All entries become the property of Promoter. As such, Promoter is the owner of all copyright and all other intellectual property in the Competition entries.
  19. The Competition will be governed by the laws of the State of New York.
  20. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardize the fair and proper conduct of the competition. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
  21. If for any reason the competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
  22. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the Competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions at a later date.
