Ismelka holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Public Policy from Rutgers University. She is currently a Master's candidate in International Affairs at The New School concentrating in governance and human rights. As a Global Policy and Advocacy intern Ismelka is interested in how government officials can collaborate with civil society in order to address the world's most important issues today. Ismelka also has an interest in understanding how fair-trade fashion can empower communities of women.
I believe that a global citizen is someone who is passionate in taking action to make the world a better place. Being a global citizen is to understand each other's strengths and weaknesses despite coming from different nations. Coming together as one without creating more divisions because of where we come from is what it means to be a global citizen.
