No One Should Be Left in the Dark: 50,000 Messages to Power 1 Million Lives

Be part of 50,000 messages calling on the UK, Denmark, and Australia to help power 1 million lives. Selected messages will be featured online.

What to know:

  • In 2025, nearly half of Africa’s population still lives without electricity. That means no lights for schools or homes.
  • Our goal is to collect 50,000 messages to read out loud on our social channels, tagging leaders as they decide what to commit
  • Call on the UK, Denmark, and Australia to help fund two stalled clean energy projects — and bring power to 1 million people.

Learn More about this cause:

Without electricity, hospitals can’t keep medicine cold, students can’t study at night, and families can’t grow their businesses. But even though Africa has lots of sun and wind, it only gets 2% of the world’s clean energy money. That’s not fair.

Right now, two big clean energy projects are ready to go. But they need more funding from both businesses and governments. That’s why Global Citizen Festival 2025 is asking the UK, Denmark, and Australia to help. These countries have promised to support global climate action — and now they have a chance to follow through. If they say yes, 1 million people could get electricity.

We’re collecting 50,000 messages from Global Citizens like you. In the days before the Global Citizen Festival on September 27, we’ll read some of those messages out loud on social media — and tag government leaders so they hear your voice.

Send a message now and help bring light, power, and opportunity to the people who need it most.
