Across Africa, 600 million people still lack access to electricity or reliable power. That means children can’t study at night, hospitals can’t reliably run equipment, and businesses are held back.
Yet Africa holds enormous potential: solar, wind, hydro, geothermal—all waiting to be harnessed. With smart investment, Africa can leapfrog outdated systems and build resilient, sustainable energy that serves everyone.
The UK has already made meaningful steps. Support via clean energy funds, partnerships with African governments, and backing of off-grid solutions show what’s possible. But the urgency and scale needed are still huge.
By speaking up, we can push for those investments. Leaders need to see that their support matters and that people notice when they step up. Tag @Keir_Starmer with a message and push for bolder clean energy funding in Africa’s communities.
